The eco-friendly devil
56Before seeing this motorcycle I was thinking, that electric vehicles can’t be fast at all. I really appreciate the engineering and scientific research done for creating electric-powered machines, but I haven’t thought that such machine can outperform usual petrol- or diesel-powered ones. And can you imagine, how excited I got, when I got to know, that an electric motorcycle has gone from 0 to 60 mph in less than one second?
So, I’m glad to tell you some words about the fastest eclectric bike ever created – KillaCycle. It was created in 1999 and at first nobody believed in the success of the project. But then everybody got shocked. When it was tested at drag (quarter of a mile) distance, it turned out, that the bike was first electric vehicle to break 8 second barrier. And after that another record was set: Scotty Pollacheck, who was riding this eco-friendly beast, managed to speed up from 0 to 60 mph in less than one second. I can’t even imagine, how do you feel, riding at such speed! I bet that not everybody will keep their motorcycle pants dry!
Of course, you will ask the question: “What is the secret of this bike?”. Let me clear it up a little bit. The motorcycle is moved by two motors, that are powered by the series of more than 1,200 cordless-drill batteries, created by A123 Systems. At this rate this piece of machinery can boast of 500 hp and maximum speed of 168 mph. To my mind such motorbikes are unfortunately only exclusions in the modern world, but the future seems to be right about them, because even now the results are impressive.
